Who is Swami, and why is he considered the most dangerous villain of Raj Comics?

In the vast world of Raj Comics villains, where there are monsters, aliens and mad scientists, ‘Swami’ appears to stand on a different level. He is a villain who wreaks havoc not with mechanical powers, but with his intelligence, his ability to organize people and his devilish face hidden behind the mask of religion. His role in ‘Barood’ fully reveals the horror of his character and the extent of his reach.

Swami’s mysterious past: How did he become the master of the world of crime?

Very little is known about Swami’s early life. His past is shrouded in deep mystery. He is identified as a ‘Swami’ and spiritual guru, in whose ashram everyone from policemen to Home Ministers remains devoted to him. This is his biggest weapon—to hide corruption and deception beneath the sacred robes of religion and spirituality. His real name, his whereabouts and how he became the “lord” of this criminal empire are all still a secret. Some stories indicate that he was a highly intelligent but corrupt person who used his knowledge to enslave others.

Swami’s dangerous intentions and true personality hidden behind a calm face

Swami’s personality appears calm, simple and mysterious. He never loses his temper, always speaks sweetly and takes every step very carefully. This calm nature of his makes his dangerous intentions even scarier. He talks like a cunning politician—there is some deep meaning hidden in everything he says. His belief that he is the “lord”—who sees everything and knows everything—creates such an ego within him that he begins to consider himself invincible. He uses his associates, like Home Minister Tripathi and DCP Agadekar, merely as pawns.

Swami’s dangerous plan to rule Rajnagar from behind the scenes

Swami’s thinking revolves around power, money and authority. His aim is to establish complete control over Rajnagar and perhaps the entire country, but he does not want to come forward and do this himself. He wants his puppets—who are loyal to him—to occupy important positions and keep working for him. This is how he rules ‘from behind the scenes’. His conspiracy in ‘Barood’ makes it clear that his ultimate goal is to frighten people and make them his slaves by spreading anarchy in the city with the help of gunpowder and weapons.

Swami’s special powers that enslave people without any superpower

Swami’s greatest strength is his intelligence and influential personality. His hypnotic voice gives him the power to subdue any person—he plays with people’s minds and takes advantage of their greed and fear. In addition, he has a very large network of criminals—he has his own personal ‘servants’, who are extremely powerful and dangerous. Both wrestlers featured in ‘Barood’ can be placed in this category, as they have the power to compete with any superhero.

Swami’s black empire, spread from arms smuggling to political assassinations

Swami is involved in all kinds of illegal activities. From arms smuggling to the drug trade and from political assassinations to mass riots, his empire stands on a foundation of blood and gunpowder. The way he committed his crimes in ‘Barood’ shows that he was bringing trucks full of weapons into the city with the help of corrupt police officers and leaders, so that the entire city could be placed on a pile of gunpowder. He also believed that he did not need to defend himself because he had his own ‘servants’—extremely dangerous fighters who were there to protect him.

Swami’s biggest weakness and the collapse of his black empire

Swami’s biggest weakness is his ego. He considers himself a person whom no one can defeat, and he feels that no one can escape from the trap he has created. In Raj Comics, he is not always directly defeated by a superhero but is doomed when his own plan fails. Even though he himself does not come forward and fight in ‘Barood’, the turmoil within his mind—that his “loyal companion” was killed and all his evidence was destroyed—proves that his foundation is hollow from within. Eventually, Inspector Steel and Salma foil his every conspiracy, and Swami—despite ruling from behind the scenes—loses his power, and the mask on his face is removed.

Why is Swami counted among the most realistic and frightening villains of Raj Comics?

Swami is one of the most realistic and frightening villains of Raj Comics. He symbolizes the fact that Satan does not have to have horns and a tail; he can also be a civilized, educated and ‘religious’ person. His dark history warns that when religion and power are joined by crime, the consequences are disastrous. His role in ‘Barood’ brings out the complexity of his character and the depth of his dark empire, making him a villain who cannot be easily forgotten.
